This is a 2007 beautiful film about a cute little girl named Moondance Alexander. This girl is a bit different from the rest of her schoolmates and therefore has no friends from school, though she is good to make friends outside the school with diverse people. The best part is that even when she is bullied or mocked by her classmates she does not care much and is always lively and cheerful. She misses her dead father a lot.
She takes up a summer job of delivering parcels when she accidently discovers a pinto horse whom she makes good friends with. She names him Checkers , returns to the owner. She makes a bargain with the stable owner that in lieu of working for him, he will teach her riding. She convinces the trainer to train for a jumping show and after much hardships wins the championship.
The movie shows a beautiful bond between the girl and the horse. The comfortable companionship that they find in each other is worth watching. She convinces the stable owner to train her and give it a try rather than not trying at all. At the championship when everybody laughs at her she is still very calm and just focuses on work and does not get disheartened. And even after winning she is the same sweet girl with no grudges against anyone.
